In our Spring grants round we funded two trips to Shetland as part of a citizen science project about killer whale foraging behaviour. The project team Emily Hague and Saana Isojunno spent time in Shetland during predicted periods of high killer whale activity and developed the citizen science data collection protocol in collaboration with local wildlife experts, and fostered knowledge exchange with a network of observers in Shetland.
