Here at Sea-Changers, we are a volunteer-led organisation and rely heavily on awesome individuals giving up their spare time and brain power to support the work we do.  So as a thank you and nod of appreciation, over the next few months, we are going to be sharing with you some volunteer spotlights to introduce our busy beavers working behind the scenes.

Our first volunteer spotlight is Nikki Reynolds, our Grants Administrator!

As a surfer, diver, and Environmental Science grad, the ocean is Nikki’s happy place and protecting it is her passion. In her role, she supports our grants programmes: responding to enquiries, processing applications, tracking project outcomes, and helping to share their impact. Volunteering with Sea-Changers is a way for Nikki to turn her passion into action. It allows her to contribute to real change, support community-led conservation efforts, and set an example for her children about standing up for what you love.

One of her most memorable Sea-Changers moments? Seeing the drive and ambition of grassroot groups applying for the Innovation Grant. Many lack formal training but push themselves to make a real impact!

And for a more adventurous memory… she once lost a fin to a curious wobbegong shark during dive training in Sydney!

Outside of spreadsheets and grant forms, you’ll often find her in the water surfing or occasionally being outsmarted by wildlife. The Tunisian jellyfish she met recently definitely had the upper hand!

Thank you from the whole team Nikki, for your energy, time, dedication and amazing energy.
