Apply now to Sea-Changers Marine Conservation Social Fund

Sea-Changers is thrilled to announce the launch of our new Marine Conservation Social Fund. The aim of this exciting new fund is to support socially beneficial marine conservation approaches and solutions.

It is well documented that engagement with blue spaces can have a hugely positive impact on wellbeing. It is also the case that volunteering has both individual and community cohesion benefits. That is why we are keen to fund projects that will achieve marine conservation outcomes, alongside social, health and /or well-being benefits for the targeted individuals and communities that participate.

The 2021 Fund totals £13,000 and is made possible by a single donation to Sea-Changers. We are particularly interested in funding pilot programmes that, following careful evaluation, might be continued, expanded and / or replicated with additional funding in future years (subject to Sea-Changers securing such funding).

We expect to fund 3-4 projects in 2021 so grant requests should be in the region of £3,000- £4,000.

The closing date for applications is 31st October 2021.

Sarah Brown, Chair of Sea-Changers said, “Emotionally I owe so much to the sea. All my life it has brought me excitement and fulfilment. Throughout the sadness of the last couple of years I have come to understand how important the ocean is for connecting people, giving context and a sense of worth and that is why I am so pleased that Sea-Changers is able to announce this new fund in the hope that a little of what I experience can be shared with others for the benefit of individuals and communities.”
