“I used to walk past the bay and not really notice much, but now it feels alive to me in a new way.”
Supported by Sea-Changers funding, Thriving Largo Bay has strengthened the community’s connection to its coastal environment through creativity and biodiversity action. The grant enabled delivery of hands-on workshops, art and ecology sessions, and the creation of a dedicated project website showcasing local biodiversity and pollution mapping. Over 40 participants and 60 volunteers took part, contributing 1,500 volunteer hours.
Alongside creative and ecological workshops, the project engaged 35 young people, removed 339 kg of litter from the coastline, and leveraged around £1,500 of in-kind support, extending the reach and sustainability of Sea-Changers’ investment. The project has built lasting community capacity, forming a vibrant biodiversity group that continues to grow, with participants reporting that they feel more connected, confident, and inspired to care for the bay.
