Harwich Haven Authority’s Fund to support and protect their marine environment​​
Our partners at Harwich Haven Authority aim to support the Haven as a thriving community committed to the preservation of its environment and the wellbeing and prosperity of its people.
Harwich Haven Authority is one of the UK’s largest trust ports, established by an Act of Parliament in 1863. For over 160 years, they’ve worked to keep the Haven safe, open and operational - supporting the people, vessels and businesses that rely on it every day. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, their jurisdiction covers more than 150 square miles - stretching from the estuary to the Rivers Stour and Orwell, and across land and assets in both Essex and Suffolk. Their marine services, Vessel Traffic Services and pilotage teams help guide some of the world’s largest vessels safely through the Haven.
That is why they have set up The Sea-Changers Harwich Haven Fund. The fund is being managed by Sea-Changers and is supported by an initial £10,000 donation. The funds will be distributed through Sea-Changers' Main Grant Fund and Small Grant Fund and the application process remains the same.
Grants will be directed to support marine conservation projects within the Harwich Haven and in the surrounding area. Funded projects may also benefit from additional support from HHA employees, as volunteers, if appropriate and helpful.

Projects wishing to be funded through the Sea-Changers Harwich Haven Fund need only undertake the usual Sea-Changers application process. If your project is based within a designated area of Essex or Suffolk, we'll do the rest!

Engagement & Education
Your project might be about inspiring the local community to learn and become more active in marine protection. Whether its learning about the local eco-systems or specific species and the threats that they face, the fund will support projects aimed at increasing ocean advocacy in the Harwich Haven area.
Citizen Science
Your project might aim to get more members of the community engaged in monitoring the marine environment through hands on citizen science. Participating in activities of this kind can develop skills and knowledge, build understanding of the pressures facing the oceans and inspire the participants to lobby for greater protection.
Direct
Action
There's plenty of opportunity for community members to take direct action to clean up polluted areas.
