Working together to raise money

for marine conservation

WHAT WE DO

We are a UK charity, managed by a small team of

volunteers who love the UK’s seas, shores and wildlife.

We give grants to UK marine charities and not for profit organisations for conservation and research projects.

Our partners have concern for the sea and its future and want to give something back by supporting our grant-giving.

PARTNERSHIPS

We love to fund grassroots projects that engage with the local community.

PROJECTS

Our General Grant Fund and the Marine Litter Fund are allocated twice a year. Deadlines are 31st March and 30th September.

GRANTS

HOW WE DO IT

We work with businesses and individuals to raise funds via bespoke business fundraising partnerships, online giving, eBay auctions, sponsored events, and individual donations.

We give out grants twice a year.

NEWS

SEAS IN TROUBLE

The world’s fisheries are becoming fully exploited or overfished, but billions of unwanted fish and other animals die needlessly each year.

UNSUSTAINABLE FISHING

Rising  sea temperatures are causing coral bleaching and inhibiting the ocean’s ability to absorb carbon dioxide. Marine plants produce at least half of the oxygen in the atmosphere and the oceans absorb a third of the carbon dioxide.  This regulates the climate helping to prevent the earth from overheating. The oceans are becoming less able to absorb carbon dioxide affecting their ability to moderate our climate.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Chemical pollution can come from agriculture, shipping, oil rigs, tourism and factories. Discarded plastic kills thousands of mammals, birds and fish that become entangled in it or eat it, mistaking it for food.

POLLUTION

Over 90% of the earth's plants and animals - from tiny plankton to the mighty blue whales - live in and depend on the seas and oceans.

More than 2½ billion people in the world depend on fish for at least 20 percent of the protein they consume, and more than 200 million jobs are related to fisheries.
