“I think what you've got going is a very exciting, professional and much-needed venture”- that was the response of Helen Scales when Sea-Changers recently asked if she would be willing to support our work in an advisory capacity.

Helen Scales

Helen, Marine Biologst, Broadcaster, Writer and Diver describes herself as, combining ‘a scuba diver’s devotion to exploring the oceans, a scientist’s geeky attention to detail, a conservationist’s angst about the state of the planet, and a storyteller’s obsession with words and ideas’. This has led to her being rather busy writing books, articles, making podcasts and radio, travelling the world in search of stories  as well as  trying to spend as much time as possible in the sea as a scuba diver, free diver and rookie surfer.

Sea-Changers’ Co-Founder Helen Webb first became aware of Helen Scales’ work when listening to the ‘Naked Oceans’ Podcasts. Helen Webb said: “I have found the podcasts a great way of keeping up with the latest ocean science and conservation news , with presenters, like Helen, who are so passionate about the issues. So to have Helen as a Sea-Changers supporter who will lend her scientific understanding to inform our work, is fantastic. We are thrilled to have Helen involved and look forward to working with her in future months”. To find out more about Helen’s work see her website.
