Over 11 action-packed days in September, the Sea-Changers’ team of volunteers made a real impact at the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2014. As the charity partner of PSP Sea-Changers, organised a range of events and met hundreds of visitors to the show. Our events included:

A Big Sea Quiz event for marine businesses, expertly hosted by writer and broadcaster Tom Cunliffe.

A reception event targeting marine businesses with guest speaker marine biologist, broadcaster and writer, Helen Scales who talked about the issues facing our seas today.
Daily talks and workshops on the PSP stand for show visitors led by a range of speakers including our trustee, Sarah Brown and patron, Maya Plass. Maya shared her extensive experience of the seashore with kids and adults in talks about exploring the seashore. She also took visitors on a journey of 200 Years on the Seashore and explored our ever-changing relationship with the sea using her collection of historical seashore books to demonstrate how this relationship has changed and how new technologies have affected the way that we can interact with and share our love of all things seashore.

The Show presented Sea-Changers with a great opportunity to raise our profile and we are now busily following up on conversations and contact we had at the show. We hope that our time in Southampton will lead to the development of numerous new business relationships. Given that, we would like to thank PSP for choosing us as their charity partner in 2014 and thank Jo Dixie from PSP in particular for some great feedback on our input.

“You were a wonderful charity partner and we were very happy to work with you and we were also very happy about the activities you held on our stand.”

We look forward to continuing our relationship with PSP in 2015.
