2017 - Grant Awarded - £350

Mull Otter Group carry out several beach cleans each year on the Isle of Mull, and through our Mull Adopt-a-Beach initiative we are working to increase participation in beach cleaning activities, raising awareness of the dangers of plastic marine litter, and coordinating the effort of organisations and individuals across Mull so that it is directed to where it is most needed.

Our project will lend beach cleaning equipment, free of charge, to any group or individual to encourage increased participation in beach cleaning, and to ensure the health and safety of those taking part.

There are many beach cleans carried out on Mull throughout the year by schools and organisations such as Mull Otter Group. There is so much activity on the island, which is sadly very necessary, that it merits locally available equipment.  Our project will avoid the need to arrange pick up and return of borrowed equipment to the mainland, which has proved to be problematic.

The grant from Sea-Changers will enable us to purchase a set of equipment for adults and children, including litter pickers, gloves, and handi-hoop bag openers.
