Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre

Grant awarded - £500

The Sea-Changers grant will provide CBMWC with funding to enable the purchase of equipment to support a new and innovative series of activities, based on the marine environment and conservation. This equipment will enable CBMWC to provide a more detailed, in-depth look at our marine life and to focus on aspects of conservation concern.

The new equipment including headphones, microscopes, lab coats, goggles and gloves will enable the team to develop activities such as “Mini marine biologists”, which will encourage families to explore marine life using a more in-depth and scientific approach. Sessions including “Science of the sea” will use a series of mini experiments to illustrate interactions between features of the marine world. Using microscopes, “Microscopic marine life” sessions aim to open up the world of tiny organisms living our oceans, and “Ocean defenders” sessions will use sound recordings to highlight potential threats to our marine life such as shipping noise, as well as microscopes to reveal the presence of microplastics in the water column.
