Rhu and Shandon Community Council

Grant awarded - £202.56

Rhu and Shandon Community Council applied for a grant to help fund Beach Cleans along the Rhu and Shandon coastline, on the Gareloch, Firth of Clyde.

The money will be spent almost equally between banners publicising upcoming events, displayed at the village centre and at the stretch to be cleaned, and the hardware we require to physically clean the beaches.

The direct action of cleaning beaches is a highly cost-effective use of funds. This grant will enable RSCC to furnish volunteers with the tools they need, including bags, bag hoops, litter pickers and protective gloves. Removing the litter altogether not only adds to the appearance of the area, it also removes the danger of entanglement and plastic ingestion to seabirds, fish, and marine mammals.

This project is still running and hasn't been evaluated yet.
