Exe Estuary Management Partnership (EEMP)

Grant awarded - £500

The Exe is an internationally important site for wildlife as well as a very special place for local communities and visitors to enjoy.

The Friends of the Exe Estuary group, which is being set-up the Exe Estuary Management Partnership (EEMP), will aim to enable volunteers from local communities to be more involved with this special area, to increase their and our understanding of the wildlife, ecology and use of the estuary and ultimately help keep our estuary in a well-managed and healthy state.

Volunteers will help to highlight any issues on the Exe and take part in a variety of activities, led by the EEMP, which may include litter picks, surveys of wildlife or disturbance events and practical management such as removal of invasive species. Awareness can be raised about marine issues through the EEMP newsletter, website and database and by helping to educate users of the Exe on how to use the area in a responsible way.

The work that this group will undertake will help the EEMP gain a better understanding and knowledge of the estuary and help us to manage this internationally important site for the future.
