2014 - Grant Awarded £550

British Divers Marine Life Rescue, (BDMLR) is a small, highly active, organization specialising in marine animal rescue and first aid. Internationally recognized in the field the majority of our operational effort is aimed at the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of such wildlife. As a result the majority of volunteers who would staff events and drive any education campaigns around the country in general have limited experience in public address and developing activities.

The intent therefore is to create a mobile resource comprising displays and objects to create an eye-catching exhibition and back this up with information and activities including whale and dolphin sounds and games to encourage understanding on cetacean physiology and behaviour.

This ‘education pack’ will cover the animals commonly found in UK waters as well as the work of animal rescuers and things that can be done to help in the event of an incident. The creation of such a ‘pack’ will allow BDMLR to provide a standardised and high quality resource to give our volunteers the confidence to interact with the public and develop a national education campaign based on the animals to be found off of the UK coast and the conservation of our native waters.
